Good websites

I have been researching what makes a good website (preferably one that promotes or advertises something.) After a lot of browsing and mind-map making, I have come up with this report:

After checking out different websites, I have come to the conclusion that a good website needs to be clear, precise and informative. If the website promotes something, it needs to have photographs, a regularly updated news section and contact details of the company or person. If it is advertising, it should have persuasive language and bright, attractive colours. It might also be a good idea to have an informative video to tell the public about the product or company.

Naturally, I will have more information on the project as it develops. I will not actually be making the web page, just researching how to create a good one.

Our new project

Our new project is about advertising - in particular, advertising Fairfield's Specialist Status as a visual and performing arts college. This morning, I researched the terms 'data', 'reference', 'media product', 'medium', 'codes & conventions' and 'sources'. I then made a PowerPoint presentation on secondary and primary research and quantitative and qualitat9ive data. Throughout the next week I plan to make another PowerPoint about the telephone.

Happy New Year

Okay, I haven't updated this for a while, so I thought I'd better write down what's been happening. The Electric December launch happened on December 1st and went really well. I was controlling the lights. We couldn't decide on a winner, so we had to have a tie. the winners were One Man and his Piano by Lauren Campbell and What's in Store? by St Helen's Primary School. I have loved every minute of this project, although it did get a bit stressful at times.

I'm not sure yet what our next project is going to be, but I think it might be something to do with advertising... More on this later.
